Raul Hilberg
Raul Hilberg (June 2, 1926 – August 4, 2007) was a jewish Austrian-born American political scientist and historian. Supporters of, and believers in, the 'Six Million Jews' saga, hold him in the highest regard. He was, in their eyes, widely considered to be the preeminent scholar on the Holocaust. Christopher R. Browning has called him the founding father of Holocaust Studies and his three-volume, 1,273-page magnum opus "The Destruction of the European Jews" is regarded as seminal for research into the 'Nazi Final Solution'.
Holo-truthers
On the other hand, today's rapidly growing body of Holocaust Revisionists do not share the same high regard for Raul Hilberg. They regard him as a collector of hear-say and yarns, a promoter of Holocaust myths and legends, and an unsound, terminally biased "scholar". They point with emphasis to the utter debacle in a Canadian Court, in 1985. During the trial of Ernst Zundel.
Under ferocious cross-examination, Mr Hilberg was forced to admit, under oath, that he was 'at a loss' to produce any evidence that even a single jew was ever gassed not just in surprise shoe boobytrap gas chambers, but gassed in any fashion at all, not just at Auschwitz, but anywhere. His loss of stature and moral authority was complete, when he didn't bother to even show up for the second trial in 1988. In 1992, the defendant, Mr Ernst Zundel, was soundly acquitted.
