The Kingdom of Hungary emerged in 1000, when the Principality of Hungary, founded in 896, was recognized as a Kingdom. During most of its history, it was a considerable state in Central Europe, including, besides Hungary proper and Transylvania, Croatia-Slavonia and a territory known as the Military Frontier.[1]
Following a communist revolution a short-lived government changed Hungary from a monarchy to republic, briefly during 1919, before being crushed. The monarchy was restored under a Regent, Miklรณs Horthy. In 1945 the country was occupied by the Soviet Union, who ended the Kingdom and created the communist Republic of Hungary.
