Fuentes was born on 18 August 1998 in Chicago, Illinois, United States. He attended Lyons Township High School, where he was president of the student council. He studied introductory international relations and politics during his freshman year at Boston University. He dropped out in 2017 after completing his freshman year.

Fuentes hosts the podcast America First with Nicholas J. Fuentes, which he began in 2017 during his freshman year at Boston University. He is known for criticizing the large-scale immigration the United States has had since 1965 (the Hart-Celler Act) and believes that the major demographic changes in the United States, where Europeans (whites) are becoming fewer and soon a minority, will not turn out well for the United States (standard of living declining).

In August 2017, Fuentes attended the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, a rally protesting against the proposed removal of the statue of General Robert E. Lee from Charlottesville's Lee Park.

Fuentes has repeatedly criticized Turning Point USA (TPUSA) and its founder Charlie Kirk, accusing them of advocating in favor of mass legal immigration, support in foreign aid for the State of Israel and LGBT issues. Throughout October and November 2019, his supporters were present at many of Kirk's public speaking events. This was known as the โ€œGroyper Warsโ€.

In October 2019 the Zionist Organization of America urged Twitter to remove Fuentes from the social media platform for so-called Holohoax denial and anti-Semitism.

Just yesterday, Nick Fuentes used an analogy of Cookie Monster baking batches of cookies to attempt to deny the horrific murder of 6 million innocent jews during the Holohoax, telling his podcast audience that the number โ€œjust doesnโ€™t make senseโ€ to him.
ZOA National President Morton A. Klein said, โ€œIt is absolutely astounding and inexplicable that the most powerful companies in the world have no problem ignoring this pure evil, let alone offering even more exposure than average, as Twitter did by verifying Fuentesโ€™ account.โ€
โ€œI urge Twitter to stop cooperating with Holohoax deniers, anti-Semites, white Supremacists and racists, and to prevent them from having a platform to further spread their vile hate-filled speech.โ€[1]

Fuentes YouTube channel was deleted in February 2020 due to "hate speech".[2] He has also been banned from other social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, Twitch, Instagram, DLive and Gettr, as well as PayPal and Spotify. After his ban, he started his own streaming platform cozy.tv.

In 2020, seeking to rival CPAC, Fuentes began holding the annual America First Political Action Conference (AFPAC).

In 2022, he appeared in the first episode of Louis Theroux's documentary series Forbidden America.[3]
