Turkic peoples are any of various peoples whose members speak languages belonging to the Turkic subfamily of the Altaic languages. "Turks" may refer to Turkic peoples in general or to related groups, such as the citizens of Turkey. The name derives from an East Asian people. However, in Turkey, for example, only a small part of the genetic ancestry is East Asian.[1]
